INVESTORS & DONORS
Building a sustainable future for Galápagos through tourism.
Galapagos Sustainable is a US‑registered for‑purpose travel platform that turns tourism into a reliable, recurring source of conservation funding for the Galápagos Islands.
We believe that every trip taken should contribute to the long‑term protection of the ecosystems people come to see. Our mission is not just to book trips, but to structure travel so that conservation is built into the business model—transparently, measurably, and sustainably.
Why this model matters
The Galápagos Islands are one of the most fragile ecosystems on Earth. Climate change, invasive species, and growing tourism pressure require continuous, well‑funded conservation work.
Yet most tourism revenue never flows directly into on‑the‑ground conservation or community stewardship. Galapagos Sustainable closes that gap by embedding a conservation‑first revenue model into every booking.
Your support helps us scale this model faster, deepen our partnerships, and increase the impact per visitor.
Our core model
Every booking through Galapagos Sustainable generates conservation funding in a clear, structured way.
We earn a platform commission from travel providers, which varies depending on the operator and volume of sales.
That commission is allocated as follows:
70% of that commission
goes directly to verified conservation projects in the Galápagos, including work with the Charles Darwin Foundation and selected local NGOs.
30% supports platform operations
including administration, financial controls, monitoring, and public impact reporting.
This structure ensures that:
- Conservation funding is predictable and traceable.
- The platform remains lean, accountable, and sustainable—not dependent on one‑time donations.
Partner strategy / initial focus
We initially focus on channeling conservation funds through the Charles Darwin Foundation, a long-established 501(c)(3)-eligible partner with a proven track record in Galápagos conservation.
This allows us to begin with a credible, established channel while we scale the model and expand our conservation partnerships over time.
What your support enables
Whether you participate as a donor or investor, your contribution accelerates our ability to scale and deepen impact.
With your support, we will:
- Develop a robust booking and search engine
- Integrate real‑time data from cruise operators, hotels, and land‑based tours.
- Enable filters by price, duration, eco‑certifications, and conservation impact.
- Expand beyond cruises
- Add vetted eco‑lodges, sustainable waterfront hotels, and educational, research‑aligned tours.
- Offer institutions and universities a turnkey way to run Galápagos programs that align with their sustainability and research goals.
- Strengthen conservation partnerships
- Formalize partnerships with the Charles Darwin Foundation and local NGOs.
- Invest in project monitoring so that impact can be reported back to each traveler.
- Build transparent reporting and impact dashboards
- Show donors and investors how much funding is disbursed per quarter.
- Share stories, photos, and data from the field.
How we measure impact:
Conservation financing must be credible, measurable, and auditable. We avoid “100% donation” marketing because long‑term impact depends on sound operations.
Key metrics we track and report:
- Total bookings and platform revenue.
- Total conservation dollars disbursed.
- Number of conservation projects supported.
- Estimated impact per guest (e.g., hours of monitoring, kg of invasive species removed, students trained).
Quarterly impact reports are published for transparency, and major donors and partners receive deeper updates on project outcomes.
